Alcohol was classified as a Group 1 carcinogen by the World Health Organization in 2007. However, this information has been deliberately withheld from the public by the alcohol industry. So, congratulations to the Cancer Society for declaring strongly today (Stuff 17/5/2022), and not for the first time, that alcohol does indeed cause a range of different cancers. The harms of alcohol use are becoming well known despite the alcohol industry’s continuing strategy of concealing these truths about alcohol from its customers.
